Director of Social Motion

Cynthia Florez is the Director of Social Motion at The Center for Pursuit. She has worked in education for over nineteen years across the country in Baltimore, New York City, New Orleans, and Houston. Her previous roles in special education, program management, and staff development have uniquely prepared her for the vast leadership needs of the Social Motion Skills program. Previously, Cynthia served as the Director of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support at Young Audiences Charter School, overseeing the English as a Second Language, 504, and Interventions departments. She was also responsible for preparing the school’s yearly schedule, coordinating state and local testing, and executing ongoing professional development for staff in order to properly integrate modifications and accommodations that meet the needs of diverse learners. She attended the State University of New York at Oneonta where she obtained a dual Bachelor’s degree in both Psychology and Africana/Latino Studies.  In addition, she has a Masters of Arts in Leadership in Teaching as well as a Masters of Arts in Administration & Supervision. In 2008, she was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, an International Honor Society of Education focused on leadership, scholarship, and service.
