Charles Kerlegon
Senior Director of Continuous Quality

For 25 years, Charles Kerlegon has built a career on helping others in the social services arena. At the beginning of his professional journey, Charles spent time working with disadvantaged youth and in the mental health field, which helped him to discover his passion for serving those with disabilities. He worked for many years at the Harris Center (formerly MHMRA), where he spearheaded three vital programs for individuals with I/DD in the areas of residential, day habilitation, and applied behavioral analysis outreach. Charles came to The Center for Pursuit in 2014 providing administrative oversight of the Home and Community-based Services (HCS) Program and co-developed the Supported Independent Living and Enrichment Programs. Currently, Charles holds the position of Senior Director of Continuous Quality Improvement and Staff Development. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Services and a Master’s of Education in Counseling. Additionally, Charles is a professor at Houston Community College where he teaches the Student Success curriculum to develop effective academic behaviors and provides students with the ability to transfer those behaviors into their college experience and beyond. Charles is an active member on the Board of Directors with iTHRIVE EMPOWERMENT, Inc., serves on the Intellectual and Developmental Needs Council of Harris County and the Houston Community College’s VAST Academy. Charles believes in the person-centered approach whereby all individuals regardless of background should be the center of service and has a deep respect for their quality of life. In his spare time, he loves spending time with family and friends.
