For 20 years, Charles Kerlegon has built a career on helping others in the social services arena. At the beginning of his professional journey, Charles spent time working with juveniles and in the mental health field, which helped him to discover his passion for serving those with disabilities. He worked for many years at the Harris Center (formerly MHMRA), where he spearheaded two vital programs for individuals with I/DD in the areas of day habilitation and applied behavioral analysis. As The Center’s Director of Residential Services, Charles oversees the Home and Community-based Services (HCS) Program, the Assisted Living Program, the Independent Living Program, the Enrichment Program, and the Supported Independent Living Program. Charles holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Services and a Master’s of Education in Counseling. Additionally, Charles is a professor at Houston Community College and serves on the committee for HCC’s VAST Academy.
