The Center for Pursuit is proud to be the largest non-profit provider of special needs vocational training in Houston, TX. Since 1950, we’ve been helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) obtain the community support and resources they need to take on meaningful work in the community that pays them a competitive wage.

Our IDD vocational training programs provide customized employment planning and assistance for our clients. No two clients’ programs will look the same because each of our clients has unique skills, interests and goals. We provide our clients with help on things like:

• Pre-employment evaluation
• Job placement assistance
• Work incentive planning
• Employment plans
• Job coaching
• Pre-employment training for transition youth

At The Center, we know that people with IDD face misconceptions that can prevent them from getting jobs for which they’re fully qualified. We’re dedicated to helping those with IDD realize their full potential and get employment they find meaningful. We’re also dedicated to fighting for more inclusive workplaces.

Our IDD vocational training programs focus on three elements to help our clients become all they can be and become active participants in the community:

Our team members help our clients envision what success is to them, and then to give them the tools they need to develop a plan to achieve their goals. We place great emphasis on independence and encouraging our clients to become as self-sufficient as they can be. For more than a half-century, The Center has been committed to helping people with IDD become all that they can be.
